June Member Meeting | Skill Swap: Creative and Accessible Strats for Rapid Micro-Film Production
Creative and Accessible Strats for Rapid Micro-Film Production
ft. Cashmere Jasmine, Cedric Tai, and Gina Chin-Davis
Disabled filmmakers are always finding innovative ways to express themselves. For June’s Member Meeting, we’re having a Skill Swap with Cashmere Jasmine, Cedric Tai, and Gina Chin-Davis, three FWD-Doc members who recently took part in Open Television’s Brave Futures program.
Using just an iPhone 17 and two weeks, they each created a 5-minute short film as part of The Nuance of Neurodivergence. Their films explore how different experiences of neurodivergence shape the way we create and tell stories.
Together, we’ll reflect on how quick, phone-based filmmaking can support disability-led creativity and experimentation. We’ll also discuss how this approach can challenge, reshape, or sometimes conflict with neurotypical filmmaking norms.
FWD-Doc members can access the link to RSVP in our Google Group or Facebook Group. This helps us to keep our online spaces safe and to protect people’s privacy.
Please note: The website times are all displayed at Central Daylight Time (UTC−5). If you select the option to add it to your calendar, it will show up at the correct time for your location.
What is Skill Swap?
A new type of member meeting, Skill Swap is a learning circle open to both disabled and non-disabled members to build new skills, gain perspectives, and explore ideas together.
